A remake of the PlayStation classic, this version of Final Fantasy VII NES was released by the Shenzen Nanjing Technology Company in 2005 for play on various ‘Famiclone’ systems.
Though no longer producing Nintendo games, the Shenzen Nanjing Technology Company was known for their stripped-down ports of titles that were released after Nintendo long ceased their support for their NES system. In addition to Final Fantasy VII, they released conversions of King of Fighters, Tales of Phantasia, and even Pokemon Yellow.
While this version of Final Fantasy VII omits certain events and characters, the resulting game is surprisingly faithful considering the hardware. And despite its minimal nature, much effort was exhausted into making this English release possible.
